Celebrating

This year Matt's birthday fell on Father's Day. He went fishing from Thursday night to very late Saturday night, so we weren't able to go to dinner for him until the next Saturday. My mom was wonderful to watch Deacon for us. We went to Longhorn Steakhouse. Matt LOVES that place and LOVES their steaks. I really like the parm crusted chicken, but I decided to try one of the steaks Matt loves so much; sadly I didn't like it so much. It had too much pepper on it and was kind of spicy for me. Everything else was great! He got Star Wars and Indiana Jones on Blu-ray, Season 3 of River Monsters, a church belt, and some Tommy cologne.  For Father's Day I got him and Deacon matching red ties.

The next Sunday was our 4 year anniversary. We were not able to celebrate that for a week either. I got some free mini golf vouchers to Boondocks so we went there and then to dinner at Sizzler. It was fun to be together and great to get outside. My two wonderful friends Jill and Amanda were kind enough to watch Deacon for us. It sounds like he was a good boy for them.

Deacon!!

Our little bundle of joy was born to us May 19th, 2013 at 4:03 pm.

Weight - 6 lbs 15 oz
Length - 20 inches

2 week check-up
Weight - 7 lbs 14 oz, 11%
Height - 21 inches, 47%
Head - 14.5 inches, 54%

Delivery and recovery went well. Deacon's temperature was a little low when he was born so he had to stay under a heat lamp for a while, but then he was fine. He was also tongue-tied and got that clipped on the second morning. He was wonderful his first two weeks in the day; he slept a lot. We are still getting used to the night time routine and trying to catch up on sleep.

One time when Dad was changing his diaper during the first week Deacon started peeing all over. Dad startled him and his body shifted, so it shot all over the room. We are now making sure we are watching and preparing ourselves while we change his diaper.

We had lots of family and friends visit us in the hospital and in his first few weeks. Many friends from the ward brought us dinners, which was very nice and a big help to me.

I can't believe this little blessing is ours and is finally here. He is growing too fast; I want him to stay my cute, little boy. I love when he smiles! He doesn't do it too often and it is usually really quick so I haven't been able to get a picture, but it just melts my heart.

Dad is so good with him and talks so sweet to him. They have lots of little "talks."

Here he fell asleep on Grandma's bed:
