May

May

Here are a few randoms from May:

When we went to St. George over Memorial Day weekend, G&G Nelson gave Deacon some money for his birthday. He bought this Scooby-Doo DVD and was very happy about it.

This is just a place I store our extra highchair, and for some reason, Emerson loves to go there. He is so funny.

I held a bridal shower at my house for my friend Amanda on May 5, and Matt took the boys to the dinosaur museum to get them out of the house. Grandma Fenwick was on her way home from Women's Conference and was able to meet up and go with them, too.  From what I heard, they all had a fun time.

Preschool Program
Deacon and Livy completed their preschool and had a program we attended on the last day. They were both "bee's" in their Goldilocks and the Three Bears production. Deacon had a line to say in the play and another one in a song they sang. He did a great job. We were sitting in the back and couldn't see very well, so luckily another parent took these pictures and was nice enough to send them to me. Deacon really enjoyed preschool and I'm hoping that will continue and he'll love Kindergarten.

I have been saying prayers with Emerson each night for a while and he has started to say part of it. He says the cutest things in his prayers and sometimes continues to say stuff even after we're done! Here are a few of the things I can remember him saying lately:
  • Thank you for the temple (he loves saying this and will usually say it several times in a row)
  • Thank you for Puppy Dog Pals (tv show)
  • Thank you for Paw Patrol (tv show)
  • Be soft to the elephants
  • Thank you for the tigers
  • Thank you for family
  • Thank you for dogs
  • Thank you for Deacon, Dada, Mama, Emerson
  • Don't hit Dada, Deacon, Mama
  • Don't bite Dada
  • Thank you for water
Deacon's prayers pretty much consist of : Help me and Emerson not have any nightmares.

Memorial Weekend - St. George Trip

This year for Memorial Day weekend we traveled to St. George and stayed with Matt's parents. We left on Thursday, May 24 and came home on Monday, May 28. The kids traveled fairly well and slept pretty good, overall. I think we only stopped twice on the way down. Our first stop was in Scipio where they happen to have a small, free petting zoo. The kids had fun seeing the animals. Emerson saw a pony and kept calling it a donkey. I told him it was a pony, which he would repeat, and the he would say "bye donkey."

We arrived at Matt's parent's house around 6 p.m. and had some dinner, got unpacked, went on a golf cart ride, and went to bed. This night was the only bad part of our trip. Emerson woke up around 2 a.m. throwing up, and threw up on and off for the next few hours. It was a rough night, but somehow Deacon didn't wake up for any of it. I was amazed; we turned on lights, Emer cried, etc., and somehow Deacon slept through it all. We took things pretty easy on Friday and just played around the house, went on walks, and more golf cart rides. The dog park is the the kids favorite destination to go on the golf cart and they love seeing the dogs. Emerson took about a 4 hour nap this day, which I'm sure he needed, and I was able to sleep a lot of that time, too. Matt and Deacon went to Wal-Mart, got some lunch, and went to the park while we slept. That evening, Matt's mom, my Grandma Nelson, and I went to see Cinderella at Tuacahn. I had never been before and it was fun to go together. It was a nice night and a nice show to see.

The next day Emer seemed to be feeling better. We started the day with a walk around the block and played around. I stayed with Emer and took a nap in the afternoon while everyone else went to a little pond to go fishing. I was told that they didn't catch any fish, but they did catch a turtle. Saturday afternoon we went to the City Center and let the kids play in the splash pad. Deacon jumped right in, but Emerson was a bit hesitant. I walked around in the water with him, but he didn't get more than his feet wet. Deacon was wet from head to toe and even found a friend to play with. We went on a Merry-Go-Round ride after they dried off a bit. That evening, we went to my Grandparent's house for dinner. My Grandma made Lemon Chicken and rice and Deacon ate so well! I think he had two helpings of chicken and three of rice; I was shocked! Emer was his typical self - ate a few bites and then started to spit it out and was done. They had fun playing with the toys and with Grandma and Grandpa. We even got to have pudding with whipped cream for dessert, and Deacon loved that, too.

On Sunday, we went to Pine Valley and went on a little hike. There is a paved trail that goes right by the river. Deacon found a tree that had fallen over and the kids liked bouncing on it. The trail went to a little reservoir where people were fishing and we walked across the bridge and on the dam. It was very pretty and a good walk for the kids. Deacon had fun exploring, walking on logs, and going on huge rocks. When we got home, Deacon took an awesome 3 hour nap, and Emerson took a fairly good one after he ate lunch, too. That evening we went to the Thunder Junction "Dinosaur" Park. Deacon really enjoys going to this park. He and Matt tried going to it on Friday, but it was closed for maintenance. Luckily it reopened and the kids had fun playing on it. I wasn't planning on the kids playing in the splash pad, but there was no stopping Deacon. Once again, Emerson barely got wet, and Deacon got drenched from head to toe. Deacon even found another little friend to play with, which was cute.

On Monday morning we wanted to get packed and leave before noon so that we didn't hit terrible traffic. Before we left, we went on one more golf cart ride to the dog park. We saw some bunnies, lizards, and dogs on this ride and the kids loved it! Deacon was sad to leave, as expected, but we stopped at the petting zoo again in Scipio and Deacon got a sucker at the gas station that has a scorpion inside. He licked it and said it tasted bad, but somehow wants to get the scorpion out. We told him he has to eat the sucker to get to the scorpion, but he thinks he can use something to crack it open. We'll see what happens...
All in all, besides a little hit of the stomach bug, it was a great trip!
