Emerson - 2 Months

Well Emerson's 2-month check up turned into a "sick visit." He has been pretty stuffy for what seems like weeks, has a rash, and his left eye has been red for a day or two. Turns out he has an ear infection ): I feel bad because who knows how long he's had it for. Luckily he's on an antibiotic now, so hopefully he'll get feeling better soon. He also still sleeps a lot, which I have actually enjoyed, but maybe he'll start to be awake more after his infection clears up. In addition, he has been favoring the right side of his head to sleep on which has created a slight bump on his head, so we have to try to position him to sleep on his left side to see if it will fix itself. His 2-month stats are below:

11 lbs 12 oz - 46%
22.75 inches - 49%
15.5 inches - 68%

Emerson is having the same issue that Deacon had at about this time... the 0-3 month clothes are getting too small for him, but the 3-6 month clothes are still too big. I've been having him wear his pajamas pretty much non-stop anyways though. I like that they have long sleeves and seem comfortable to me. I'm hoping that most of Deacon's clothes will still work out for Emerson, even though the seasons will be a bit different for him.

Emerson pretty much only cries still when he's hungry or has gas. He doesn't like it when I put him in his car seat, but usually does better once we're moving. He's been so good to take on walks and to the park with Deacon; he pretty much just sleeps while we're out. Deacon has started to call him "Emer-Baby."

We love our sweet Emerson!

Zoo

We made our annual trip to the Zoo on Thursday, October 13. Deacon and Livy had a great time! It was especially great for Deacon because he loves Halloween and the Zoo had several Halloween decorations all around the zoo. They got to go on a train ride, play at the new park, and go on the Merry-go-Round. It was a little bit more difficult with two kids this time, but luckily my family was a HUGE help! My Dad was nice to push Emerson around the whole time in the stroller and my Mom and Mandy helped with Deacon. My Mom has bought the kids an animal every year so far at the end of our visit, and this time Deacon knew he wanted a snake even before we got to the zoo. I thought he might change his mind after he saw all the animals, but nope, he got a snake. I would have preferred a different animal of course, but he really likes it, and that's all that matters. Also, we went on the perfect day! The weather was great and a lot of the animals were out and active. We got to see the otter and seals swim around, see the elephants and seals do some tricks, and see a brown bear climb into some water to cool off.

Thanks for the fun, Grandma and Grandpa!

6 Weeks

I love seeing him grow, but it kind of makes me sad that Emerson is already 6 weeks old. He really has been such a good baby so far. During the day he really only cries or wakes up when he's hungry or has gas. He has definitely slept a lot more during the day than Deacon did (from what I can remember). We are getting up several times a night for feedings though and he doesn't go back to sleep quite as easily at night as he does in the daytime. We have him set up on our couch laying in the boppy a lot of the time. Deacon loves to give him kisses and hugs, and unfortunately he also likes to yell in his face. Deacon and Emerson have both had a bit of stuffy/runny noses lately. I guess with the weather getting colder, that is expected.

I know it's been mentioned before, but Deacon LOVES Halloween! He is already so excited to see all of the decorations and pumpkins, etc. I got some Halloween books at the library for us to read and he has been loving those. I can also get him to come with me to the grocery store easier now because he knows he can see the decorations and pumpkins. I'm hoping i'll get to take him to several Halloween things during the month (pumpkin patches, Cherry Hill Scary Hill, trick or treating and a trunk or treat, etc).

On Saturday, September 24, my aunt invited us to a Teddy Bear and Health Clinic at Lakeview Hospital.  Deacon and Livy both got a teddy bear at the beginning and went to different areas of the hospital to do different activities with their bears. They also got a whole bunch of free stuff from businesses while we were there and got to get in a ambulance, fire truck, and jump in a bounce house. I think they had a great time! We'll be looking forward to going again next yet.
Here are a few pictures of them at the event:

Sadly, I haven't been as good at taking pictures or video of Emerson as I was with Deacon. I guess that's what happens when you are not the first child. One thing about him is he has a very strong neck already. I kind of forget to do tummy time with him very often because he already seems to be so strong.
Here he is sleeping in the boppy:

Todd and his family invited us to go on a hike with them last Sunday between the conference sessions. I had no idea it was going to rain, and when we got up to our destination, it started to sprinkle. After a few minutes, it was pouring on us! We decided we had better just get moving and get back to the bottom of the mountain and we got completely drenched on the way. Of course by the time we got back down, it had stopped raining and was sunny again. Deacon had fun, but he did get pretty cold. I wrapped him up in a blanket in the back of my Jeep for a little bit and he seemed to warm up quickly.

Here is Emerson's picture I took when he was a few days old compared to his one month picture below it. Somehow he ended up being in the same outfit for both pictures, but you can tell that he fills it out a bit more now.

Lastly, my Mom and I took Deacon and Livy to Kangaroo Zoo again last week. They did so much better this time than they did a year ago. Livy went down a few of the big slides last year, but Deacon wouldn't do any of them. This time I think they both went on every single blow up toy several times. I didn't get very good pictures this timebecause Deacon wasn't cooperating and didn't want me to take any.

September

September has been busy and went by way too quickly!

Deacon has been enjoying the garden Grandpa Fenwick grew in our backyard. He especially likes the cherry tomatoes. He also likes to pick a cucumber or zucchini and just start chomping away.

Emerson seems to be doing really well now and is enjoying lots of sleep.

Super Grandma Nelson came to Bountiful in September and got to meet Emerson:

Deacon and Livy's dentist had a carnival that we attended. It was so nice because everything was FREE! The food, the bounce houses, the games, everything, free! The only bad thing was that it was super crowded! Deacon was so excited to go on the Batman bounce slide. He loves Batman and Spider-Man right now.
