Pumpkin Train

Personally, I don't really enjoy Halloween. I don't like being scared and I don't really like to dress up, but with Deacon, it is much more fun. He really seems to like Halloween, or at least whatever he thinks it is. He loves to see all of the pumpkins, spiders, ghosts, and other Halloween decorations and watch Halloween shows. He keeps saying "let's go," meaning let's go to Halloween. It's hard for him to understand that he still has to wait a few more days. I think it's cute how much he seems to like it.

On Saturday, my mom and I took the kids to the Heber Valley Pumpkin Train. We went on a 40 minute train ride, which turned out to only be 4 miles down the track and 4 miles back, got a pumpkin cookie, and picked a pumpkin from their "Pumpkin Patch," which was just a bunch of boxes of pumpkins. Both kids seemed to enjoy themselves and have a good time. Afterwards, we took them for their first time to McDonald's for Happy Meal. They both liked playing on the play place and had fun with a little boy that Deacon kept calling "Gentle." I'm not sure what his real name was, but I know that was not correct. Deacon and the other boy kept laughing and playing together and had fun. Livy liked to climb up the play place and come back down again.

Deacon and Daddy carved the pumpkins we got from our train ride last night:

Things to Remember:
This week's phrases: "I can mom, I can," and "Oh my gosh."

Example: Deacon asked if he could have a popsicle on Monday, but I told him he had to eat his dinner first. He replied with "I can." I can mom, I can." I received the same response when I told him he couldn't have a cookie either. Apparently he thinks he can.

We were at Smith's buying some groceries on Tuesday and when Deacon saw some painted pumpkins he kept saying "oh my gosh." I had never heard him say this before and I'm not sure where he picked it up from. Matt and I don't say it very often and my parents don't either. I'm going to assume that he learned it at the babysitters... but it's not my favorite thing to have him say.

Yesterday when Deacon woke up from his nap he was not happy. He kept crying and wouldn't say much and then laid down on the floor. After a few minutes, he had fallen asleep again on the floor so I put a blanket on him, left his door open, and went in the other room. About 15 minutes later I heard him say "where'd Mom go." I met him in the hallway and he was much happier for the rest of the night. Funny, funny boy.

Zoo - October 9

Grandma Mecham and I took Deacon and Livy to the Zoo for their second visit on October 9, 2015. We had a few hard times, but overall I think they enjoyed it. We went during the Zoorassic Park, so it was fun to see all of the dinosaurs throughout the Zoo. Deacon liked playing in the sand, going on the merry-go-round, and riding the train. Livy wasn't very happy waiting on the train until it started, but seemed okay once it got going. Grandma bought Livy a polar bear stuffed animal and Deacon a blue dinosaur stuffed animal. It took a lot of dilebeartion for Deacon to decide what animal he actually wanted. First he wanted a wolf, then a snake, then a polar bear (which he already has), then a green dinosaur, then a blue dinosaur, then the snake again, then a gorilla, then a giraffe, and lastly a crocodile. I kinda picked the blue dinosaur for him since he did want it at one point and they won't be there next time we go. He seems to be happy with it now, but he wasn't happy with it when we left the Zoo. He wasn't happy when we left the Zoo, period! Luckily he did fall asleep for most of the ride home.

I love this cheese face!

Deacon was so cute when he saw this baby dinosaur. He kept talking to it and saying "hi."

It's October!

Deacon loves pumpkins! He doesn't always want to go to the store with me, but when I tell him that he will get to see pumpkins, he immediately changes his mind. He also likes to look for them when we go walking around our neighborhood.

Deacon also likes superheros right now. He had me put his blanket around him the other day for a cape, but it didn't stay on very well. I bought him a vampire costume for Halloween last year (yes, it was an end of season clearance item) and thought I could take the cape off of that for him to wear around. It turns out the cape is attached to the whole top piece, but he was happy to put it on. He also wanted to wear the pants that came with it. He wore the whole costume for several hours until it was time to go to bed and then put it on again the next morning. I think he looks pretty dashing in it. Here's our "Super" Vampire:

My mom and I took Deacon and Livy to the Discovery Gateway Museum again on September 21. The kids had a fun time. Deacon really liked a tractor that he found to ride on and a stuffed pug. Livy loved the stroller she found and pushed it around for a while.

Livy loved sitting in this airplane; we could not get her to come out! When Deacon wanted a turn, she wouldn't move, but she did let him "share" the seat with her.

Deacon loved riding this!

Matt sent me a text this morning saying that he found Deacon in the bathroom brushing his teeth all by himself. He has a stool under the sink that he took out and was standing on with the water running. He said he brushed them for around 2 minutes which is shocking since it's usually pretty tough to get him to brush his teeth at all. I didn't even know he could reach his toothbrush or the faucet, even standing on his stool. Funny kid.

He pretty much thinks he is the boss (which is probably true) and he tells me to go into Time Out sometimes. He is a very smart boy, but with that comes a very independent attitude and rebellion.

Riding around on the Frozen car at Costco. He loved this thing! While we were there the power went out, so I was glad he had something to keep him occupied while we waited for it to turn back on.

Playing with his tools.

Mrs. Potato Head glasses... he thinks he so funny. He even has a fake laugh that he does quite often. He also likes to make believe that his animals/toys are talking to each other. He likes to give me an animal and always says "hi" to my animal with his.
