Blessings!

I don't think I will ever be able to give back the love and service that others give to me!
Sunday was Deacon's baby blessing and it was such a wonderful day! A lot of our family and friends were able to attend and it was nice to spend the afternoon with them. We were worried, as I am sure most parents are, that he was going to cry during the blessing, but he did just great. I felt that the spirit during the meeting was strong and peaceful. My sister-in-law was SO sweet; she took the time to write down Deacon's blessing for me. I wanted to write it down while Matt was giving it, but being the new mom that I am, I forgot a paper and pen; so I am grateful that she was so kind to think of doing that for me! It was also very sweet because I was able to fully listen to the blessing and not have to concentrate on writing. It was a wonderful blessing and Deacon is lucky to have an amazing father! We are so blessed to have this sweet boy in our family.
I also had asked my friend Amanda to take some pictures for me.
She did an amazing job and I am grateful to her!

Thank you again to all who attended and helped out! We love you!

July Holidays

We didn't do too much for the 4th and 24th this year... I didn't want to expose Deacon to the heat and loud fireworks. We did get together with Matt's family on the 4th of July for a BBQ and my Grandma had us over to her house for a BBQ on the 24th. Both were a lot of fun and it was great to get together with family. Ever since I started to date Matt, the 4th of July has become my favorite holiday. His family always gets together to eat, play games, and have a firework show. The kids (both my nieces and nephews and now my own) sure make holidays a lot more exciting.

2 Month Stats

Head: 16 inches - 62nd percentile
Length: 23.5 inches - 68th percentile
Weight: 11 lbs 8 oz - 41st percentile

His doctor said he had quite a growth spurt from his last appointment and is growing good. He is in a weird stage for clothes right now - the 0-3 month clothes are getting too small and are not long enough for him, but the 3-6 month clothes are too big... oh well.

He also got his first set of shots; he was a tough boy. He took a good nap when we got home, but was a bit upset when he woke up for about an hour. His temperature rose a little so we gave him some infant fever reducer which seemed to help him feel better. He was back to his happy self the next morning.

2 Months

Our big boy is 2 months old!

Last night when Daddy was burping him, he got poop all over Daddy's shirt - it was a pretty bad one. I hope I can get it to wash out. Deacon has been choking lately. It really scares me. He has done it about 6 times in the last week. We are thinking that he is starting to produce more saliva and isn't used to swallowing it and chokes on it somehow. He has his 2 month doctor appointment tommorrow, so hopefully they can help us.

He now eats about 7 oz every 3.5 hours and will sleep from 11 pm to about 6:30 or 7 am (:
I am trying to give him his tummy time to strengthen his neck muscles, but today he fell asleep again. It is pretty cute, but not very effective tummy time.
He can fit in the boppy much better now:

Frog bums! He and his cousin Olivia both had frog bum outfits.

2 Months Old!

I finally got a picture of his cute smile.

Daddy wanted to take a picture of Deacon sitting in his Redskins helmet, but he's too big now so we just took one of him next to it with his hat on.

Deacon - almost 8 weeks

  • Pooped on me last night at 3am while we were waiting for his bottle to warm up
  • Finally realized how wonderful SwaddleMe's are. He slept great the first night we used and and has been getting better. We had two good nights in a row!
  • Starting to smile with his eyes open. Smiles with his eyes closed more, too. So cute!
  • Getting some chubby cheeks and legs.
  • Kicks his legs and moves his arms all at once sometimes.
  • Eats about 6 ounces every 3-4 hours.
  • Wakes up once between 3:00-4:00 am to eat, then usually wakes up again around 6:30 am with gas, so we put him on the bed with us and he'll sleep until around 8:30 am.
  • Makes lots of funny, cute noises.
  • Opens his eyes really wide sometimes.
  • Likes to lay on his changing mat. Sometimes when he is upset, we will just lay him on that and he will calm down.
  • Hated his baths at first, but is getting better every time. I think the water was a little too cold at first. The warmer water has seemed to help. He had his best ever bath last night with just some noises.
  • Starting to get on a "nap" schedule some.
  • Always falls asleep in the carseat - does really well in the car and on errands.
  • About 23-24 inches long.
  • I think his gas is starting to get better, but his is starting to have some small blow-outs ): Dad even changed his first major poop at Grandma and Grandpa's. I was shocked!
  • Dribbles a lot when he eats. I have started to put a bib on him.
  • Sometimes we go through 3-4 outfits a day.
  • Is awake a lot more in the day now.
  • When he sleeps in his bassinet on his back, he some how scoots all the way to one side and has his face right up against it.
  • Mommy and Daddy just love him!! (:
