December 2020

Unfortunately, we didn't get a lot of snow this December, but we were still able to do some fun winter things. We went to see the Christmas lights at the Centerville park (we always like these), at the Gateway, at Station Park, and at Bountiful Town Square.

We were still able to go see Santa at Cabela's, the kids just couldn't sit on his lap. I was glad we could still do this, but the glass made it hard to hear each other. There was a display in the line we waited in with a toy boat on it - so of course, that's what Deacon told Santa he wanted (as did Livy).

The boys built gingerbread houses, and Grandma Nelson invited them over to decorate cookies. Deacon was sick, so he was not able to go, but Livy and Emerson had a fun time.

Christmas was definitely different this year with the pandemic going on. Most of Matt's family thought it was best to not get together for a party, so we had a Zoom party together and opened gifts from each other. Matt's parents stayed in St. George, so we mailed them their gifts and they joined us on the Zoom call. It was sad to not get together, but it was nice we could still do something somewhat together.

Christmas Morning:

Since Matt's parents couldn't come, one of the things we sent them was a paper tree and ornaments the grandkids made for them.

My Grandma Nelson wasn't worried about the virus, so we were still able to get together at her house with that side of the family for a party on Christmas. Unfortunately, Deacon did get sick a few days before Christmas, so we took him to get a COVID test asap in hopes that we would have the results back before Christmas, but we didn't get them back until the day after Christmas. Just to be sure, we kept him home from Grandma Nelson's party, but he was able to go to the party we had the next day with my parents at their house since they all already had covid in November. Luckily, he tested negative, but we thought it was best to be safe.

November 2020

We just kept moving along in November. I am loving working from home and hope it will last for a long time. I don't want the virus to last for a long time, but I am really enjoying working from home full-time. I love that I can stay in my pjs until noon and that I don't have to commute in the traffic and snow. There have been a few positives that have come out of this pandemic. I also really like the grocery curbside pick-up option. I pretty much do that all the time now. It saves me a lot of time and has worked out well.

My silly kids reading books with Dad:

Since the local library hasn't been able to do story time anymore, they have been providing a lot of fun crafts and coloring pages for the kids to do. They also have a monthly scavenger hunt and the kids get a pencil or sticker or something like that if they do it. This month they had some fun feather hats the kids made.

On November 13, we were able to go to the Museum of Natural History. They had a special exhibit call the "Arctic Dinosaur" or something that the kids got to see this time. They had fun seeing the exhibits.

Emerson made this at Preschool and liked wearing it around

They still love playing with Legos

Painting a Thanksgiving craft

And of course, we have to go start seeing the Christmas lights.
These are at Farmington Station. A lot of things are still closed, so we try to find entertainment anywhere we can.

We also went to see the lights at The Gateway

For Thanksgiving this year, we just did it on our own and I brought food to my parents. My parents and Mandy all got COVID about a week before Thanksgiving, and then I got it about a week after them. It wasn't too terrible, I just felt like I had a cold and I lost my sense of smell for about a month. I keep telling people that losing my smell wasn't the worst thing since I live with 3 stinky boys (: Luckily, Matt, Livy, and the boys never got it (or at least if they did, they never showed symptoms).
