Happy 1st Birthday, Emerson!

Emerson is 1!

It's getting hard to remember all of the things Emerson is doing now. He now has 4 teeth (2 top, 2 bottom), is crawling, cruising around everywhere, and can pull himself up to stand and get back down from the couch. He has started to point at things, is eating great, and has tried many new foods (although he will spit food out if he doesn't like it), and he is starting to drink cow's milk (we started about a week early).  He is still nursing, but doesn't seem as interested anymore, so we'll probably stop soon.  He mostly says "da da," sometimes yells (quite loudly) for fun, and wants to be doing whatever Deacon is doing.  He tries to steal Deacon's food when it is within his reach and everyone comments on what a happy baby he is.  I feel like he is lecturing me sometimes and his little babble language is so cute, he enjoys the tub and is curious about the drain when I pull the plug, and I don't know if it's a good or bad thing, but he already loves technology. He loves phones, computers, remotes, anything he can try to get his little hands on. Recently he has been spitting a lot. He will just do it while he's playing, or when he's eating (which isn't fun).  Emerson also likes to bite your toes if he gets the chance, and thinks it's a fun game; he can bite hard!
He had a pretty rough patch of sleeping before his 4th tooth came in, but I think we're starting to get back into a good sleep schedule again. He still has some rough days/nights, but it's definitely better than it was a few weeks ago.  He still likes to play with my face and stick his finger in my eyes, nose, mouth, etc when I hold him to get him to fall asleep.
We went to his 1-year check up, and the doctor said everything looks good.

1 Year Stats
Weight: 21 lbs 3 oz, 48th %
Length: 29.26 in, 27th %
Head: 18.26 in, 59th %

Compared to Deacon at 1 year, Emerson is weighs a little bit more, is slightly shorter, and has a slightly smaller head, although I don't think the nurse every measures his head correctly, so who knows.

We had a family birthday party for Emerson on Saturday, August 19 at a park. My Nelson grandparents happened to be in town, so we were lucky they could come. It was a fun little party with cake and ice cream, presents, and playing on the park. Emerson was a quick little bugger and grabbed a handful of frosting and got some on his toe.

Since my Grandparents were not here for Deacon's birthday, they brought him a present, too.
He loves his new pots and pans kitchen set!

Earlier that day my mom, grandma, Deacon, Livy, Emerson, and I went swimming at the rec center. It was a nice day and luckily it wasn't crowded at all. The kids love swimming and enjoy being able to have more freedom in their puddle jumpers.

Emerson's actual birthday was the next Tuesday. We had a little leftover cake and gave him a few more presents (which Deacon likes to play with).
