Pumpkin Train

Personally, I don't really enjoy Halloween. I don't like being scared and I don't really like to dress up, but with Deacon, it is much more fun. He really seems to like Halloween, or at least whatever he thinks it is. He loves to see all of the pumpkins, spiders, ghosts, and other Halloween decorations and watch Halloween shows. He keeps saying "let's go," meaning let's go to Halloween. It's hard for him to understand that he still has to wait a few more days. I think it's cute how much he seems to like it.

On Saturday, my mom and I took the kids to the Heber Valley Pumpkin Train. We went on a 40 minute train ride, which turned out to only be 4 miles down the track and 4 miles back, got a pumpkin cookie, and picked a pumpkin from their "Pumpkin Patch," which was just a bunch of boxes of pumpkins. Both kids seemed to enjoy themselves and have a good time. Afterwards, we took them for their first time to McDonald's for Happy Meal. They both liked playing on the play place and had fun with a little boy that Deacon kept calling "Gentle." I'm not sure what his real name was, but I know that was not correct. Deacon and the other boy kept laughing and playing together and had fun. Livy liked to climb up the play place and come back down again.

Deacon and Daddy carved the pumpkins we got from our train ride last night:

Things to Remember:
This week's phrases: "I can mom, I can," and "Oh my gosh."

Example: Deacon asked if he could have a popsicle on Monday, but I told him he had to eat his dinner first. He replied with "I can." I can mom, I can." I received the same response when I told him he couldn't have a cookie either. Apparently he thinks he can.

We were at Smith's buying some groceries on Tuesday and when Deacon saw some painted pumpkins he kept saying "oh my gosh." I had never heard him say this before and I'm not sure where he picked it up from. Matt and I don't say it very often and my parents don't either. I'm going to assume that he learned it at the babysitters... but it's not my favorite thing to have him say.

Yesterday when Deacon woke up from his nap he was not happy. He kept crying and wouldn't say much and then laid down on the floor. After a few minutes, he had fallen asleep again on the floor so I put a blanket on him, left his door open, and went in the other room. About 15 minutes later I heard him say "where'd Mom go." I met him in the hallway and he was much happier for the rest of the night. Funny, funny boy.
