Halloween Fun!

Deacon LOVED Halloween. He is still talking about "scary ghosts" and "scary statues." He watched the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Halloween special I think at least once a day for about 2 weeks. Deacon was a skeleton/vampire and he really enjoyed wearing his costumes. He even wore the skeleton all day one day, to bed that night, and all day the next day. Deacon and Olivia went to the truck-or-treat at my ward the Wednesday before Halloween and then went together around my neighborhood on Halloween night. He loved trick-or-treating and kept asking me if we could go to "one more house". I told him we could go to lots more. Deacon loved seeing all the decorations, lights, pumpkins, and scarecrows. He only got scared at one house that had a witch/ghost hanging by the door. Livy was a bit timid at most homes unless she saw a dog... then she just wanted to walk right in and see the dog. Below are some pictures of the kids at the truck-or-treat.

On Saturday, November 7, for some reason Deacon stuck his finger into Livy's mouth when she was eating some fruit snacks. I don't know if he was giving her one or what, but she bit down pretty hard and Deacon's finger got an infection in it. We got him some antibiotics, but he HATED drinking the liquid! He would spit all of it out and cry and we were supposed to get him to drink it twice a day for 10 days! I called the doctor and they gave us some chewables, but said that they didn't taste much better. I have been cutting the pills in half and covering them with peanut butter to get him to take them. He only spit a pill out once so far and tonight will be his last pill, yipee! His infection better not come back because I don't think I can get him to take anymore medicine. Getting kids to take medicine is hard! His finger got really red and swollen and then finally popped. His fingernail actually fell all the way off a few days ago, but overall, it is looking much better. Poor guy!

With Halloween over and Thanksgiving/Christmas on the way, Deacon is already enjoying the Christmas lights and seeing the lit Christmas trees at the stores. I'm usually a "wait until after Thanksgiving to start Christmas" kind of person, but this year I'm okay with it starting early since Deacon enjoys it so much.

Phrases:
I think Deacon got a few of these phrases from the shows he watches. He was playing with the basketball hoop and it fell over on him. He said "It's all part of the plan," which Matt told me a character on a show says sometimes when he messes up and accidents happen. He also says "Good job everybody" sometimes. I remember him saying it once after I changed his diaper.  We were waiting in the Taco Bell drive-thru the other night and after a minute of silence Deacon said "what is going on here?" He said it in the cutest voice/tone, too.

He loves tools and always wants to "fix" everything. He also likes to have everything "talk," Lately he will hand me something, anything really, and he will get something, too and say "talk mom." His things mostly just say "hi."
