Deacon has been enjoying each holiday as it comes and goes. He loved Halloween, then Christmas, and now he's enjoying Valentine's. He likes to look for hearts when we go to the store and see them at Grandma's house. I know he doesn't understand what holidays are yet, but it's fun to see him enjoy the decorations. For Easter we are going to go on the Heber Valley Easter Bunny Train ride. There is supposed to be an Easter Bunny on board and a magician, with a petting zoo to visit at the end. I'm also thinking of planning an Easter egg hunt for Livy and Deacon to do on Easter Sunday.
Deacon is very aware that his name is Deacon. If you call him anything else, for example: "my big boy," he will say "no, i'm Deacon." He knows his name is Deacon and you can't call him anything else without being corrected. Deacon also doesn't like it when we're not paying attention to him sometimes. If I am talking to Matt or to my Mom, Deacon will start to yell "stop talking!" at us. He doesn't do it a lot, but when he does, he will just keep yelling at us until we listen to him. We try to tell him that Mom and Dad can talk for a minute, but that doesn't always work. A new sibling is going to be quite an adjustment for him...
Fenwick Baby #2 is due September 2, 2016. So far Deacon has told us that he thinks it is going to be a boy. He says if it's a boy to name it Joseph, and if it's a girl to name it Abby. I don't think we will be using either of those names, but it's cute to ask him. He has only said it will be a girl once or twice and a boy probably 9 times. We'll wait and see... Matt and I tell him that he needs to be careful around my tummy because there is a baby in it. I'm sure he's pretty confused about it all. He told my mom yesterday that the baby is growing bigger and bigger, but that it's not ready yet. Smart kid. I am going to the same doctor, Dr. Porter, that I used with Deacon. Matt and I really like him and everything seems to be going well so far. I am either hungry or nauseous all the time though! It's not fun, but other than that, I haven't really gotten sick yet. I think I get nauseous when I get really hungry, but eating isn't usually what I want to do when I'm nauseous, so it's a difficult cycle.
It is finally starting to warm up a little bit outside, yipee! Deacon and I were able to go on a walk around our block a few days ago and he was able to go outside at Grandma's house, too. It's so much nicer when I can take him outside and let him run around a little bit. Frozen was on TV the other morning and Deacon has been a little obsessed with it ever since. He keeps wanting to watch Elsa. I guess every kid really does love that movie. I think Frozen is the only movie he has actually sat through the entire thing so far. We usually just let him watch Frozen and/or Tangled when he is sick, but now he wants to watch Frozen all the time. He also still loves to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and has started to dance at the end when they do the "Hot Dog Dance." He tells whoever he is with to move their feet (dance) along with him. He is still doing great with his shapes, numbers, and letters, although he doesn't like the number 15. He always seems to skip it when he counts to 20.
Mandy and I took Deacon and Livy to Boondocks to play in their Kiddie Cove area and do a few arcade games a few Saturday's ago. Deacon did not want to take his wristband off when we got home and kept calling it his "ticket." I think he ended up wearing it for 4 or 5 days. We stopped at Target on our way home and the picture below is of Deacon and Livy in the cart. I recently found out that Target will give children a free cookie if you ask for one. Deacon ate his super fast and then kept wanting to eat Livy's. She ate hers super slow and still had a little bit left when we were getting back into the car. Deacon was pretty upset that he couldn't eat the rest of Livy's cookie. She was nice to share a little bit with him, but she may need to learn to eat them quicker if she doesn't want a certain little boy to steal them away from her.
Matt went to a hunting expo and got Deacon this deer hat. Deacon actually wore it quite a bit the day he got it and a little bit the next day. He thought it was pretty cool. Score for Dad!
