Pioneer Day was so much fun this year! We started off by going to the Bountiful Handcart Days parade on Friday, July 21. Deacon is so funny to watch at parades. He likes to dance to the music when the bands come close, and still hasn't quite figured out how to get the candy that is thrown. He will run up to a place that just got candy, get there too late, and then miss the candy that was thrown right where he was. It's hard for him to understand that he won't get everything that is being passed, out especially when they are bigger items like balls, etc. One little boy by us got two balls and was nice enough to give one to Deacon. He does get very excited every time he picked up a piece of candy. He ended up with plenty of stuff. Emerson did pretty good as long as he had Grandma's spray bottle to play with.
On Saturday, Livy, Deacon, Mandy, and I went to the Handcart Days activities at Bountiful Park. The kids had fun on the blow up toys, the train, the swings, and even won a prize. We ended the afternoon with a snow cone.
Saturday evening we had a BBQ and pool party with the Fenwick's. We had a great time! Deacon loved jumping off the diving board and did it probably 100 times. Emerson enjoyed floating around in his tube and chewing on the various duck toys that were around.
On Sunday evening, Deacon, Grandma Fenwick, and I went on a hike up Muller Park Canyon. Deacon likes to see the "tee-pees," and had to try to find a good walking stick a good portion of the time. As we were leaving the tee-pees, we saw a deer that was within 10 feet of us. It was a nice hike.
When we got back from our hike, we did a few sparklers that we had left and had popcicles with family. Happy Pioneer Day!
