October was filled with as much "Halloween" activities as we could fit in! I will detail them in my next post, but here's a few other things we did in October. In addition, we have a walker! Emerson became a pro walker at the beginning of October. He's super fast, too at both walking and crawling. You think you can leave a door open for a second, and bam, he's there. He's even good at holding things in one or both hands and walking around. He also thinks he has to eat whenever anyone else is eating. We are trying to teach him to say "more" when he wants another bite, instead of just yelling at us. He also loves the food pouches I give him. He'll kick his legs and get a big smile whenever he sees one.
Deacon and Livy went to Pack's Pumpkin Patch on Monday, October 9 with their pre-school. I worked a 1/2 day so that I could take them in the afternoon. Livy picked her pumpkin out very quickly, whereas Deacon picked out about 15 before he finally decided on one. It was a little cold and windy, but they first went into a tent where the farmer read them a story and told them all about the different pumpkins. Then they picked their pumpkin and got to play in a hay maze.
Deacon, Emerson, and I made a trip to the zoo on the 12th. They had Halloween decorations out, which Deacon loved, and we had to spend much longer in the Reptile House than I wanted to. On a good note, we got to see the Tiger again - they are hardly ever out and in view. It was a nice day and not crowded at all. Emerson even got to ride the carousel and the train for the first time.
Deacon has been making us lots of cool things with his blocks, and Emerson is learning to sleep on the floor one in a while at Grandma's (:
Grandpa Mecham introduced Emerson to kids videos on YouTube. He loves watching them! Sometimes I set Matt's tablet up on the couch so he can watch some songs.
He also likes going on the tramp now. He has started to jump a tiny bit. but i'm still worried he'll fall off.
In October, the library has the firefighters come for one of the Story-times. We invited my friend Paige and her kids Piper and Oliver, and my sister-in-law Emily and her kids Garrett and Kyle to come with us. The kids enjoyed seeing the fire engine and ambulance and running around with each other after.
