Bear Lake 2023

This year we went to Bear Lake July 16-20. On our drive up Logan Canyon, an RV had caught fire and we had to stop and wait for about an hour. It was a long time, but the boys did surprisingly well.

We stayed in a townhouse very similar to the one we stayed in last year in Garden City with my parents and Livy. The place was pretty nice and had lots of TVs and some fun games in the garage for the kids, but the kitchen was lacking some items and the A/C didn't cool the upstairs very well. The first day we were there we went shopping at the little stores near our townhouse, ate lunch, and then went to the beach. We have found that we like going to the beach later in the day. There are less people in the late afternoon, and it just seems to work out a little better for us. The kids had a blast playing on the sand and in the water. This was a warmer day, but it did get a little cloudy and windy at times.

The next day we went to the Butch Cassidy Museum (which is the last standing bank that he robbed), and the Minnetonka Cave. Both were better than I expected. There was a guy at the museum that told us a lot about the history of Butch Cassidy and about the bank he robbed.

There was also a statue of Old Ephraim nearby we stopped to see.

After that, we went to the Minnetonka Cave. This was a lot of fun and we had a great guide. There were a lot of fun facts we learned and cool things to see in the cave and the kids had a great time. Emerson became the guide's "2nd hand man" and was right by her for most of the tour. It was really cute.

Later that night, we went to a little park/pond that is nearby. We all had fun throwing some footballs and a frisbee that Livy brought, and the kids had fun on the park.

Deacon wanted to be our photographer.

The next day, we headed back to the beach. The temperature was slightly cooler than it was on Monday, but the sun was out and it wasn't windy, so it felt a lot better.

The kids found a cool sandcastle someone else had built, and also a small pool of water, which they ended up playing in for like an hour. I'm always surprised at how long these kids can play on the beach.
They love it!

The next morning we packed up and headed for home. We stopped at a shop before we left so the kids could buy a container to put some sand and seashells in; then went to a beach nearby to get some sand.

One our way home, we stopped at the Hobbit Caves in Logan Canyon, and then went to lunch at Fredrico's in Logan. We had a fun trip and can't wait to go again next year!
