March

Emerson is really starting to show off his personality lately. He has been giving me scolding looks when he doesn't want something, he thinks it's funny to wash his hands, and he gets excited and steps on the stool in the bathroom and says "brush teeth," but when I try to brush his teeth, he just tries to run away or goes limp on the floor. He still loves the tub, but now tries to drink the water - he will use any toy he has or even just bend his head down and drink it, yuck! He is such a smarty pants and a bit of a parrot; he will repeat whatever we say. Some days I feel like he hardly eats anything, but other days he seems to be eating all day. He can eat a whole sandwich, which amazes me, and loves "bummas" (hummus). He can go up and down stairs well and can climb on the couch. He likes to sit in the blocks bin right on top of them and is very good at telling us "no!" when he doesn't want something. Lately he has been standing up in his car seat when I try to get him in it when we leave my mom's house. He loves his grandparents and being with all of them. He started nursery and went great the first time, but has been having a hard time ever since then. He loves Deacon and wants to know where he is and what he's doing. He likes to play peek-a-boo and be chased and tickled. He has started to say "hi" when I go into his room and wake him up in the morning and is starting to twist and turn and stand up when I change his diaper and get him dressed. Changing his diaper can be very difficult! Emer has really started to like to color, which he calls "pencils." He will point and say "pencils, pencils, pencils." He likse to play on his tummy and loves YouTube baby "shows," especially the "busses" at Grandma's. He loves to read books and be silly. I have to write this down just because it was so funny, but the other day he informed me that he pooped and was stinky. He had never informed me of that before, so it gave us a laugh.

Deacon has been having fun in preschool and doing fun things this month. He told me Happy Birthday four times in the morning when I woke him up on my birthday and was so proud of himself. He said "Dad, I told Mom Happy Birthday four times!" He also told me that I was the boss since it was my birthday, but then changed it to having all of us be the boss and that it's basically everyone's birthday... ha ha funny kid. He also told me I could go back to sleep since it was my birthday, I sure wish I could have gone back to sleep. He has been a bit picky with food, but I guess that's not new. Still says things are gross before he even tries them, and then likes them once he has a bite. He loves to play with Emer and has started to wrestle with him. He is a funny boy and has really started to use his imagination. The other day while he was eating lunch he was telling me all about his imaginary tv that he was watching and his two bosses, one that was a dog and one that was something else, and how he is going to get a chameleon as a pet, Emer is going to get a lizard, and me and Dad are going to get a dog. He likes to build forts, be fast, and collect things. Lately, he wants all of the holiday cards we get (birthday, holidays, etc). He likes to color and watch movies with popcorn.

On March 17, Matt took Deacon to his first Monster Truck Show. They had a fun time.

We went to an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 24 at North Canyon Park. The kids ate hot-dogs, played on the park, and got lots of eggs. It was a bit chilly, so they also hung out in the car for a bit to get warm. Deacon even found a "special" egg that had a $2 bill in it. He was very proud. Matt said that Emerson opened up the first egg he found and popped the candy right into his mouth, wrapper and all. The kids got some little toys, stickers, tattoos, and candy in their eggs.
